Let's take a nostalgic trip down memory lane by recalling all the characters in the Tamiya (Let’s & Go) cartoon series.

Speaking of anime, who hasn’t watched Japanese animation? Readers of this article probably love Anime.

Many Japanese cartoons have aired on private TV stations. This made us glued to the TV, especially on Sundays.

Unfortunately, these days there aren’t as many anime series on TV as there used to be. Fortunately, there are several anime streaming apps we can rely on now.

One of the most memorable anime for 90s kids is the series called Bakuso Kyodai Let’s & Go! or simply known as Let’s & Go.

Overview of the Let’s & Go Cartoon Series

Let’s & Go is a cartoon series about mini 4WD car racing. The cartoon was created by Tetsuhiro Koshita.

Initially, Let’s & Go was a manga in Japan. After gaining many readers, the manga was adapted into an anime (referred to as a cartoon in Indonesia) consisting of three series, each with 51 episodes.

The Let’s & Go anime series also offered various merchandise such as CDs, cards, and stickers. Many Tamiya toys became popular in our beloved country too.

In Indonesia, Let’s & Go was first aired by RCTI from 2002 to 2005. We used to watch it on Sundays at 6:30 am.

After a long hiatus, this beloved anime made a comeback on RTV.

To this day, the Let’s & Go anime remains cherished by its fans. This is evident from their eagerness to rewatch the series and the numerous Tamiya communities that exist.

Characters in the Tamiya Cartoon Series (Let’s & Go)

1. Go Seiba

Go Seiba is one of the main characters in this mini 4WD racing anime. You must be familiar with this iconic glasses-wearing protagonist.

Go Seiba is known for his fiery spirit. However, he is also known for being clumsy and often making silly mistakes without thinking much about strategy during races.

Go Seiba is a speed enthusiast. He always tunes his Tamiya for high acceleration and excels on straight tracks.

His favorite Tamiya is the Magnum Saber, which gets modified over time to be cooler and faster.

2. Retsu Seiba

The second character is Go Seiba’s older brother, Retsu Seiba. Retsu is known for his memorable red hair.

Go and Retsu are known as the Let’s & Go Brothers or Seiba Brothers.

Retsu Seiba is the opposite of Go Seiba. He does not have a fiery spirit but is very skilled at devising the best racing strategies.

Retsu relies on the Sonic Saber, which excels in corners. Like Magnum, Sonic Saber also gets modified over time.

3. Jun Sagami

As known, Go and Retsu have a beautiful friend named Jun Sagami, known for being a chatterbox.

Jun Sagami doesn’t know much about Tamiya. Nonetheless, she is very diligent in supporting Retsu and Go during races.

Jun Sagami appears in the first series of Let’s & Go, making her familiar to Tamiya anime fans.

4. Dr. Tsuchiya

Dr. Tsuchiya is one of the most important characters. He is the designer of mini 4WD cars and can be considered the Father of Tamiya.

Previously, Dr. Tsuchiya was an airplane pilot. After retiring, he focused on developing mini 4WD cars, or Tamiya.

After designing several mini 4WD cars, Dr. Tsuchiya gave them to selected children, including the main characters Go and Retsu Seiba.

Dr. Tsuchiya is known for believing that Tamiya can thrive in the hands of children.

5. Ryo Takaba

Ryo Takaba is one of the main rivals for Retsu and Go Seiba. He has excellent skills and appears from the first series.

Despite being rivals with Go and Retsu Seiba, he maintains a good friendship with them. He is never alone, as he has a younger brother named Jiromaru Takaba who always accompanies him.

Ryo Takaba is very serious, somewhat arrogant, and does not hesitate to engage in psychological warfare with his opponents.

Ryo Takaba’s Tamiya is named Tridanger X. This black Tamiya is very fast, rivaling Go’s Magnum Saber.

6. Jiromaru Takaba

As known, Jiromaru Takaba is Ryo Takaba’s younger brother. Jiromaru is very loyal, always following his brother.

Besides being loyal to his brother, he always supports Ryo Takaba because he idolizes him.

Jiromaru is an annoying character, often arguing with Go Seiba. He has a Tamiya named Jiromaru Special, designed similarly to the older version of Tridanger X.

7. Tokichi Mikuni

Tokichi Mikuni is undoubtedly one of the characters remembered by Let’s & Go anime fans. He is the son of the Mikuni Group company owner.

Known for his distinctive buck teeth, Tokichi is arrogant and overly reliant on his wealth.

Initially, Tokichi saw Retsu as a rival. However, over time, his personality changed, and he considered Retsu his friend.

Tokichi often cosplays as funny characters. His favorite Tamiya cars are Spin Axe, Spin Cobra, and Spin Viper.

8. Takeshi Sugiyama (Mini 4 Fighter)

Although he does not race mini 4WD, he is considered one of the important characters in the Let’s & Go anime series.

Takeshi Sugiyama, also known as Mini 4 Fighter, serves as a commentator guiding the mini 4WD racing events.

Takeshi Sugiyama has a legendary Tamiya called Shining Scorpion, whose body can change color depending on the track conditions.

9. Futoshi Kurosawa

Futoshi Kurosawa is one of the first antagonists against Retsu and Go. His Tamiya, Black Saber, is often modified extremely to destroy opponents’ Tamiya cars.

After a long time as an enemy, Futoshi Kurosawa decides to become friends with Retsu and Go.

He also decides to remove the weapons from his Tamiya and promises not to destroy other people’s Tamiya cars.

10. Makoto Kohiro

Makoto Kohiro is known as a supporting character. Although not very talented, he is known for his strong determination to win races.

Makoto Kohiro has a very friendly personality. He considers Retsu and Go as rivals on the track but friends off the track.

The character, who wears large glasses, uses Avante 2001 as his Tamiya. He later switched to a faster model, Saber 600.

11. J

This yellow-haired character is one of the racers trained by Dr. Ogami. He used a Mini 4WD named Proto Saber JB.

Feeling more comfortable racing with the Seiba Brothers, J decides to leave Origami Labs and live with Dr. Tsuchiya.

Unexpectedly, J is very skilled at repairing, modifying, and tuning Tamiya cars, a talent he gained while being trained by Dr. Ogami.

12. Dr. Ogami

Dr. Ogami once worked with Dr. Tsuchiya. However, due to a dispute, Dr. Tsuchiya decided to leave and establish Ogami Labs.

The owner of Ogami Corbs is very eager to install destructive weapons on every Tamiya to make the races more exciting.

After establishing his lab, he trained many racers, including J, previously discussed.

13. Kai Okita

Kai Okita is one of Dr. Ogami’s top racers. He has metal claws on his hands, one of his distinguishing features.

Kai Okita is known as a very mysterious character. The blonde-haired character is motivated to become the fastest racer.

Initially, Kai Okita often troubled Retsu and Go. He has a Mini 4WD named Beak Spider, which is very fast.

Eventually, Kai Okita becomes an ally of Retsu and Go. They often collaborate to defeat many strong opponents.

14. Gouki Ichimonji

The fourteenth character is one of the main characters in the Let’s & Go! MAX anime series. He is the twin brother of Retsuya and a former Battle Racer at Borzoi School.

Gouki Ichimonji and his twin brother decided to leave Borzoi School due to differing ideologies.

Gouki Ichimonji is known for his rough behavior. He is also very skilled at tweaking Tamiya cars and is determined to become a true Mini 4WD racer.

Additionally, this character is very eager to clear his tarnished name. He has Tamiya cars named Max Breaker and Blazing Max.

15. Retsuya Ichimonji

Retsuya Ichimonji is Gouki Ichimonji’s twin brother, who also decided to leave Borzoi School. Retsuya Ichimonji is individualistic and believes that strength is everything in mini 4WD racing.

Additionally, Retsuya Ichimonji is very confident, believing he is the number one racer in the world.

Retsuya’s favorite race cars are Shadow Breaker and Knuckle Breaker. Did you ever own these cool Tamiya cars?

16. Marina Ogami

Marina Ogami is the daughter of Dr. Ogami. She has a beautiful appearance but a mysterious demeanor, with her favorite Tamiya named Fire Stinger.

Marina Ogami is determined to win every race she participates in. She also desires to free her father.

In the Let’s & Go! MAX story, Marina Ogami is a rival and friend to the main characters, Gouki and Retsuya Ichimonji.
